Logan Canyon Scenic Byway |
Located in Southeastern Utah, this byway takes in Hwy 89 from Logan to the Utah/Idaho border and follows the 1800s-era trail of fur trappers and mountain men making their way to the great lakeside rendezvous of the past. The road begins at the mouth of Logan Canyon, just east of the city of Logan, in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The 41-mile road takes in scenery like towering cliffs, natural springs and waterfalls, and glacial cirques; lush vegetation and outstanding fall foliage color accent the nearly vertical canyon walls. The drive ascends from 4,700 feet to an elevation of 7,800 feet at the summit and provides a panoramic view of Bear Lake, below. This byway is cited as the most scenic route to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone National Park.
